One of Mia Farrow’s children entered college at just 11 years old, while another, despite being paraplegic, pursued a career in law enforcement. One overcame severe malnutrition as a baby and built a life of her own. As a mother of 14, Farrow has witnessed incredible triumphs but also endured heartbreaking loss.

Mia Farrow’s life has been shaped by a successful career in Hollywood and motherhood, but it is the latter that has defined her most. As a mother of 14, she built a large family, blending biological and adopted children from different backgrounds. However, her story is not without heartbreak.

The “Crimes and Misdemeanors” actress has endured the devastating loss of three of her children, each under different and tragic circumstances. Despite these painful losses, she continues to honor their memory while remaining dedicated to the children who still stand by her side.

Mia Farrow’s Early Family Life

Long before she became a mother, Mia was already familiar with the spotlight. Born in 1945 to director John Farrow and actress Maureen O’Sullivan, she grew up surrounded by Hollywood’s biggest names.

She launched her own acting career in the 1960s, gaining fame with “Peyton Place” before cementing her status as a star with “Rosemary’s Baby.” And while her career thrived, her personal life also evolved.

Mia’s first marriage was to legendary singer Frank Sinatra in 1966, but their union ended in divorce just two years later. She later married German-American composer and conductor André Previn, with whom she started a family.

During their marriage, which lasted from 1970 to 1979, they welcomed three biological sons: Matthew, Sascha, and Fletcher. They also adopted three daughters, Lark, Daisy, and Soon-Yi. This marked the beginning of Mia’s lifelong commitment to raising a large and diverse family.

Matthew and Sascha Previn: The Private Twins

Mia and André welcomed their first children, twin boys Matthew and Sascha, in 1970. Unlike their mother, who spent much of her life in the public eye, both chose to lead private lives and focus on professional careers outside Hollywood.

Matthew pursued law, earning degrees from Yale and Georgetown Law, and later worked as a partner at a Park Avenue law firm in New York. As of 2013, Matthew was a father of two and was married to fellow attorney Tarnisha Graves.

Sascha initially worked in finance as an accountant before becoming a high school teacher. A 2013 report mentioned that he was a stay-at-home father while his wife, a pediatric cardiologist, continued her medical career. However, their current personal and professional lives have not been publicly updated in recent years.

Fletcher Previn: A Leader in the Corporate World

Mia and André’s youngest biological son, Fletcher Previn, was born in 1974. Like his older brothers, he chose to build a career outside of Hollywood, establishing himself in the corporate world. As of 2024, Fletcher serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Cisco and is also a board director at Taylor Morrison.

In earlier years, he worked as an executive assistant at IBM, gradually climbing the ranks in the tech industry. His personal life has remained largely private, though past reports mention that he is married to a graphic designer. Though Fletcher was able to build a career, not all of his siblings had the same opportunities.

Lark Previn – A Life Cut Short

In 1973, Mia and André adopted Lark Song Previn from Vietnam. She arrived in the U.S. as an infant, having suffered from severe malnutrition. Lark went on to build a life of her own and became a mother of two.

However, tragedy struck in 2008 when she passed away at the age of 35 due to complications from HIV/AIDS, which she had contracted from a previous partner. According to her mother, she lived a fruitful and loving life with her children and longtime partner before her sudden passing.

Despite her struggles, Lark’s family remembers her as an extraordinary woman, a wonderful daughter, sister, partner, and mother. Her untimely death left a lasting impact on her family.

Daisy Previn: A Life of Stability

Three years after adopting Lark, Mia and André expanded their family again, adopting Summer “Daisy” Song Previn from Vietnam in 1976. Like her sister, Daisy also suffered from severe malnutrition as a baby but grew up in a stable home environment.

After appearing in the 1986 film, “Hannah and Her Sisters,” Daisy chose to lead a private life away from public attention. As per past reports, she worked as a construction manager in Brooklyn and was married to a musician. She also has a son from a previous marriage.

Though Daisy has kept her personal life out of the spotlight, she remains one of the many children Mia raised with love and care. Meanwhile, their younger sister took a very different path — one that led to a permanent estrangement from the family.

Soon-Yi Previn: The Estranged Daughter

Among Mia and André’s adopted children is Soon-Yi Previn, who arrived from Korea in 1977 at approximately seven years old. Reports indicate that before her adoption, she had been abandoned by her birth mother, who was a prostitute, and had suffered abuse.

As she grew older, Soon-Yi’s path diverged sharply from the rest of the family. In the early 1990s, Soon-Yi became involved with Woody Allen, who was in a long-term relationship with Mia at the time.

Their controversial relationship led to a permanent estrangement between Soon-Yi and the rest of the Farrow family. Her adoptive father, André, reportedly distanced himself as well, once stating, “She does not exist.”

Soon-Yi and Allen eventually married and adopted two daughters. She has kept a low profile over the years and remains completely disconnected from her former family. Meanwhile, another of Mia’s adopted children also became estranged, though for very different reasons.

Moses Amadeus Farrow: The Family Therapist

In 1980, Mia adopted Moses Amadeus Farrow from Korea when he was two years old. He was born with cerebral palsy, a condition that affected his mobility. As an adult, he pursued a career in mental health and became a family therapist.

He also developed a passion for photography. Unlike most of his siblings, Moses has publicly distanced himself from Mia, questioning her parenting and siding with Woody amid longstanding allegations within the family.

Reports indicate that he is separated from his wife and two children. While Moses remains estranged from his mother and most of his siblings, his younger sister has remained close to the Farrows.

Dylan Farrow: Actress and Advocate

Mia adopted Dylan Farrow from Texas in 1985. Like some of her siblings, she was introduced to the entertainment industry at a young age. As a child, she appeared in the 1990 film “Alice”, directed by Woody.

Ronan Farrow: The Investigative Journalist

His early career included working as a UNICEF spokesperson for youth and serving in the U.S. government, where he focused on diplomacy and international affairs. In recent years, Ronan has become best known for his work as an investigative journalist.

Ronan has remained close to his mother and continues his work in journalism, while his younger brother, who is one of Mia’s adopted children, pursued a different path.

Isaiah Justus Farrow: Finding His Path

Mia adopted Isaiah Justus Farrow in 1992. He was born to a mother struggling with addiction and was welcomed into Mia’s growing family as an infant. Unlike some of his siblings who pursued public careers, Isaiah has largely stayed out of the spotlight.

Tam Farrow: Gone Too Soon

The same year Mia adopted Isaiah, she also adopted Tam Farrow. She was born blind and had a preexisting heart condition that required medical attention throughout her life.

In 2000, Tam passed away at the age of 17. Mia later revealed that her death was caused by an accidental prescription overdose related to the agonizing migraines she suffered, which were linked to her heart condition.

It has been 25 years since her passing. Tam was the first of Mia’s children to pass away, followed years later by Lark, then Thaddeus.

Thaddeus Farrow: Overcoming Adversity Before His Tragic End

Mia adopted Thaddeus Farrow from India in 1994. He was paraplegic due to polio and faced significant challenges from an early age. He once spoke about the difficulties of adjusting to a new country and family but also expressed gratitude for the love and support he received.

Over time, he developed an interest in mechanics and law enforcement, even enrolling in a criminal justice program at a junior college with hopes of working in the field. Despite his resilience, tragedy struck in 2016 when Thaddeus died by suicide at the age of 27.

According to reports, he was found with a life-threatening injury inside his vehicle in Connecticut and later pronounced dead at the hospital. Mia later revealed that he had been happily engaged but took his own life after the abrupt end of his relationship.

While losing three children was devastating, Mia remained devoted to her surviving children, including Quincy, whom she adopted in the same decade.

Kaeli-Shea ‘Quincy’ Farrow: A Passion for Real Estate

Mia adopted Kaeli-Shea Farrow, known as Quincy, in 1994. Unlike some of her siblings who entered public careers, she has largely stayed out of the spotlight.

As of 2013, Quincy was attending college and expressed interest in becoming an aid worker. However, in more recent years, her career path has shifted.

According to her social media profiles, she now works as a real estate agent with Berkshire Hathaway. After adopting Quincy, Mia continued expanding her family, adopting again the following year.

Frankie-Minh Farrow: Mia’s Fearless Daughter

Mia adopted Frankie-Minh Farrow in 1995 from Vietnam. Born blind, Frankie faced challenges from an early age, but she was raised in a supportive environment alongside her siblings.

She attended Perkins School for the Blind, a renowned institution that provides specialized education for visually impaired students. In a past social media post, Mia described Frankie as her “fearless daughter,” highlighting her independent spirit and determination.

Frankie has maintained a private life, and there are no widely available updates on her current professional or personal endeavors.

Mia, now 80, has faced many hardships raising her children, but remained steadfast in honoring the memory of the three children she lost. She has spoken out against misinformation surrounding their deaths, ensuring that their lives are remembered for who they were, not for speculation.
