Halle Berry loves to embrace a see-through look. Take a glance through her red carpet history and you’ll find a bevy of sheer moments, from her unforgettable 2002 Oscars dress from Elie Saab to her black-and-gold waterfall-esque Versace dress from the 2017 Met Gala.
And last night, Berry proved her love affair with sheer material isn’t over yet, as she hit the red carpet to promote her new Netflix film The Union in a see-through black number. In the movie, she plays a super-spy named Roxanne, who ropes her former high school sweetheart into her latest espionage mission. As any action thriller fan could tell you, a classic secret agent outfit usually consists of head-to-toe black, and Berry certainly abided by this code as she hit the carpet. However, her monochromatic uniform offered a saucy twist.
For the premiere, the Academy Award-winner chose a lacy black ensemble that was part naked dress, part lingerie slip, with panels of fabric that varied in transparency.
Across Berry’s torso, the form-fitting sections were composed of a more opaque black material, creating a darker, bodysuit-like silhouette. Then, the rest of the dress morphed into a totally sheer skirt that hugged Berry’s legs. All across the long-sleeve look, there were floral lace details that popped up in decorative blooms, somewhat imitating paisley.
To match the shade of her dress, Berry accessorized with a set of inky Mary Jane pumps, and she kept her jewelry simple, with a pair of sparkly silver hoop earrings and spiral-like diamond rings from Kallati. For the cherry on top, the actor and director added a pop of color via her glam, which included a purply-pink blush and shadow.
