She’s taking it.
Dakota Johnson simply doesn’t miss when it comes to her red carpet fashion looks. For the actress’s appearance at Kering’s 3rd Annual Caring For Women Dinner on September 9, she stepped out in a sparkling, fitted dress courtesy of Gucci.
Johnson’s dress featured an entirely see-through bust that was decked out in sparkling crystal motifs made from Gucci’s signature double G (“GG”) monogram. Insead of freeing the nipple entirely, the Fifty Shades of Grey actress opted for flesh colored pasties to preserve her modesty. The bust portion of the dress, which gleamed with every camera flash, plunged into a deep V before extending into a semi-fitted skirt—that had a daring split in the back—at the waist in an iridescent white shade.
The 34-year-old wasn’t afraid to accessorize, either—no necklace was present to avoid distracting from the beautiful bust details, but she completed her look with dangling pearl and diamond earrings, and matched with a pearl ring worn on her right hand. For a playful touch, Johnson added metallic silver heels with a black platform for added height.
Last week, the Madame Web star whipped out another slinky dress from her arsenal while attending a Bulgari Studio Party leading up to New York Fashion Week. The pre-fall ready gown, also by Gucci, was another slip-style dress and featured a delicate lace bust in black, and a chocolate brown satin skirt. Johnson also wore another slip dress, one with a more ’70s and bohemian vibe for the party for her directorial debut, Loser Baby.
The messaging is abundantly clear: slip dresses are here to stay—at least into September—so long as Johnson has the final word.
